Gratitude from Galapitagala Vidyalaya

Staff, Students and the Parents celebrated Late Mr. Leighton Jayasekara’s birthday on the 6th of April by arranging an alms giving and a Pirith (Recitation or chanting of the word of the Buddha) ceremony at Galapitagala Vidyalaya. 

School principal Mrs. Nalika Siriwardena addressing the gathering paid her gratitude to late Mr. Jayasekara who is from Texas USA, for his generosity and the care for the students in a rural school in Sri Lanka. Further she thank for all other contributors for the project and Mrs. Chandrika Ratnayake’s continuous support for the project.  Principal paid special thank for Minnesota Sri Lanka Friendship Foundation (MnSLFF) for its leadership, and ability to complete the project working with the donors, Department of Education officials and the contractor.

Auditorium is named after late Mr. Leighton Jayasekara. It will be used for multiple purposes, as a class room, assembly hall for staff and students, and also as a venue for the parents meetings.  Amidst COVID 19 pandemic, Mr. Karunaratne, the contractor worked very closely with MnSLFF to complete the project within the budget and a timely manner.
